Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) cat food uses protein derived from Hermetia illucens larvae as the primary protein source, instead of conventional chicken, beef, or fish.

A 2025 peer-reviewed study (n=30 cats) found BSFL-based diets achieved 90.24% crude protein digestibility — higher than conventional poultry meal at 87.31%.
